Well, in case there wasn’t already enough to be excited about — what, with the highly anticipated Season 5 premiere and Alison’s return to Rosewood — ABC Family dropped some major news on everyone. And when we say “major,” we 100% mean it. Are you sitting down? Are you ready? Here goes: The network has renewed the hit series for another two years. Yep, that’s right – Pretty Little Liars Season 6 and Season 7 have been green-lit and are a go. HOORAY!
THERE WILL BE A TIME JUMP
This press release follows hot on the heels of some juicy spoilers about what the future holds for Emily, Spencer, Aria, Hanna, and Alison and their friends, lovers, and family. According to executive producer, Marlene King, the show’s creative team plans on skipping the characters’ college years. Whereas Sara Shepard’s bestselling book series explores the Liars’ undergraduate experiences, the show will forego this, opting instead for a One Tree Hill approach by focusing on young adulthood.
Oh, and if you’re worried that the whole “Who is A” mystery will grow old and stale, fret not, gentle viewers. Marlene assures us all that when the psycho’s identity is finally made public, it will be a total, gut-wrenching shocker, to say the least. “My favorite character is A, and you’ll understand why when A is revealed, and A’s motivation for being A is revealed,” she stated.
